Nationwide £100 Bonus Update: What We Know So Far

Nationwide’s popular £100 Fairer Share bonus could return this year – and we’ll know for sure on 29 May.

Nationwide has confirmed it will announce details of its 2025 Fairer Share bonus payment on 29 May, when it publishes its full-year financial results.

Nationwide Bank

For the past two years, the building society has rewarded millions of members with a £100 cash bonus if they met certain requirements. In 2023, £385 million was shared between 3.85 million members. But the bonus isn’t guaranteed, it depends on the bank’s financial performance and individual eligibility.

So What? Insights

This bonus could be a welcome boost for everyday customers, especially during a cost-of-living crisis. With interest in savings still a hot topic and recent Nationwide moves like the Virgin Money UK takeover, members are watching closely.

For those who qualify, it’s free money but the criteria can be tricky, so knowing how to be eligible matters.

Key Implications

  • Nationwide will confirm on 29 May whether the bonus is going ahead for 2025.

  • Not all customers will qualify, you need to meet activity and account requirements.

  • This is separate from the recent £50 ‘Thank You’ payment related to the Virgin Money deal.

Practical Takeaways

If you’re a Nationwide customer and want to be in the running:

  • You must have had a current account open by 31 March 2025.

  • You must have used the account actively between January and March:

    • Either deposit at least £500, or

    • Make at least 10 outgoing payments (excluding transfers to your own Nationwide accounts).

  • You must also have a Nationwide savings account or mortgage:

    • With at least £100 saved or £100 still owed.

Tip: Keep your account open and active through to at least June, when payments are expected to go out (between 13 and 28 June).

Final Thoughts

With high inflation and bills still biting, a £100 bonus could go a long way for millions of UK households. The announcement on 29 May will confirm whether the payout is coming back and if you could be one of the lucky recipients.
